Studio sessions Update
Day 1 December 26th, 2004 11 AM to 10 PM
We entered the familiar
studio early that Sunday morning, recovering from the holiday cheer. It felt so good to come back. Our mission was to record
a CD that would demolish the previous CD we released this past March, and we will. This CD represents us more than the last
one in numerous ways. It shows our maturation in music and maturation as human beings, living life as we...well... live. This
is our AUDIObiography of our past year together; this is our audio scrapbook...our journal entries for 2004 in a picturesque-form
for the ears, per se'. Only five AUDIOgraphs (songs) can describe such a journey...
1. Can't Wait (This song was written
in August, 2004. It's about taking a vacation or making an escape of some sort...in this case, an ocean, but in the deepest
mindset, quick relief and release from anything. It's a feel-good summertime song)
2. Punch-Drunk World (Written in
February, 2004. It's life in a nutshell. Pain. Love. Depression. Absolute happiness... All the product of the world we made
and the world we break. "Punch-drunk" is an old slang term that came to be back in the Roaring 20's or so, in which was used
to describe a boxer's state of confusion due to continuous beatings. The world we live in is punch-drunk...beaten to confusion.
It mimics my sidelined, selfish ways toward the world and declares that I am better than what I claim to be and will strive
to help the world change with the gifts God has given me.)
3. Homecoming (I wrote this on June 2nd, 2004, in midst of a relationship
I was killing. I was distraught and discouraged when I began writing this, but as I wrote, it became more of an ode to my
perils in life as well. It's more of a "I will be just fine, no matter how things end up" declaration to God (with his help),
my dear, and myself. I needed to figure things out, and when you take a timeout like that, everything becomes clear...and
that's where the song ends)
4. Last Forever (I completed the lyrics for this song on December 23rd 2004, making this
the most recent. It's what I've become known for...the album's break-up song. It's about leaving one and finding another to
take her place. It's about reality and dreams, and reasons why they should remain separated.)
5. Under the Moon (This
is the full-band version of the song. I stayed up late one night after I moved to the country in October. I went out on my
back porch, battling crisp, frigid winds and gazed at the stars and the moon. I wanted to write about it. I wanted to write
about it's beauty and grace...but in this case, it's written about God's goodness as well. It's in deep appreciation for the
painting held above us...the stars and moon...things we don't look at enough to enjoy their resplendence.)
We managed
to complete the drum tracks on this day and finish the bass as well. We made good time, I'd say.
Day 2 December
27th, 2004 11 AM to 10PM
We recorded guitars for first four songs. Work was carried over to Day 3
Day 3 January
1st, 2004 12PM to 9:30 PM
We should've known we'd be dealing with a hangover (just Scott was hungover haha) the
night after New Year's...but we went for it either way. We finished the guitars, and I recorded vocals for the first four
songs in two hours...including the three 20 minute breaks between each song. I sang each song all the way through four times,
then took a break and so on.
We have one half-day left to complete the other song and to add the vocals, and we also
get to do back-up vocals pretty soon. After that, it will be mixed by Scott (our boy) or Skidd Mills (mixed 3 Doors Down's
debut CD and Sister Hazel's new CD). The quality is a lot better as we are in Studio A this time. I'm very excited for the
finished product. This CD will be as perfect as we can get.
Also, we will have a CD release party in the next two or
three months...depending on when the CD will be done.
Cheers! Matt-o

Wow. This part of the site hasn't been updated in about 7 months so I guess I should let
everybody know what's been going on. Which is A WHOLE LOT. In that time, we have recorded our EP and as of recently,
sent it out to some very big and important people. Recording our debut EP was the most fun we've had as a band.
Spending a week drinking nothing but sugar filled coffee really got some ideas flowing-tamborines,pianos,and Hell Chimes
to name a few. We recorded at 747 Studios, a lovely little place ran by Mr. Paul Ebersold. We recently returned there
to drop off a copy of our EP to Scott Hardin, the guy who recorded us. Apparently, Saliva was recording thier new cd at that
time and we got to hear some of their new stuff right before good old Josey peeled out in his brand new red corvette (which
was the funniest thing i've ever seen). Paul got a copy of our cd as well and hopefully good things will come from that, as
it did for our good buddies Chosen View. We've spent the past months writing, which has been going unbelievably well, our new
songs are some of our best, and getting the Perspective word out. Anyways, that's about it for now. Look out for some big
stuff in the future. Things are lookin pretttty good.

Recording started last night on our first actual demo CD. I, myself, am feeling very vivacious toward
the material as of now, and am looking forward to laying down the vocals late tonight. Lately, the band's been
really working hard and we're finally taking another step forward...and what better timing? This two-song feature will include
"Cascades" and "From the Blue", and I honestly do not know if we're going to sell the CD's at all- considering our hopes to
be in Chosen View's Producer's studio for a week in the next month. We've recently taken the time to witness our friends'
recent recordings at their studio, and the five hours we spent there were endless amounts of fun.
The objective behind
the recent recordings is to enter us into the Grammy Showcase by October 17th...so if we do decide to sell these, it will
be definately ready by then.
Yes, yes! I'm planning on going
to ANOTHER studio in the next month or two to record the solo demo/ E.P. CD. I plan on recording up to five originals and
maybe throw in a cover such as U2's "With or Without You" haha, one of my personal faves. These are different grounds I'm
stepping on with this, but it basically covers the Pop/Smooth Jazz/ Spanish/ Funk intersections in my blood. The tracks
will be of these originals...

What the Future Holds
See You Cry
Evolve
Tijuanan Blue
...and maybe some of my Perspective acoustic renditions, which were my babies before band production,
such as "For You" and "Sadness (The brand spanking new one that no one's heard yet)". So yeah, fun experience, and hopefully
some use will come from it! That's what's on my plate...see you back here soon!
